2. Are Australian qualifications recognised in my home country?

Australian qualifications are respected internationally when seeking employment or further study at leading international universities. Distinguishing Australia from many other countries is the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) which is a national system of learning pathways recognised throughout Australia and by other countries.

4. Do I need a visa to study in Australia?

Yes. Universal Student Services will lodge your electronic visa.

5. How much does it cost to study in Australia?

An Australian Government survey showed that in terms of total costs—including tuition fees and living expenses—Australia was consistently less expensive than the USA and UK. Tuition fees will vary depending on the course or institution this website provides average costs as a guide. Living costs too will vary by location, course and lifestyle.

6. Are scholarships available?

Yes. Scholarships available for international students however most are offered for postgraduate study in universities. The majority of international students in Australia are full-fee paying students and are not awarded scholarships.

7. Can I work in Australia while I study?

Yes. International students in Australia on a student visa can apply for permission to work up to 20 hours a week during course time and full-time during vacation periods. We will take you through the process once you arrive in Australia.

9. What if I don't meet the entry requirements?

If you do not meet the entry requirements for further study you can enrol in secondary school in Australia. If you do not meet undergraduate course entry requirements you may be able to enrol in Foundation Studies which prepare you for further study in Australia and reserve a provisional place in your proposed course. Bridging courses, such as a Master Qualifying program, are also offered. There are also many English language courses with starting dates throughout the year to prepare you for further study in Australia. It is recommended that you seek advice from the institution about meeting their entry requirements before applying for admission into your selected courses.

10. How do I find out which institution offers courses I am interested in?

11. How are Australian institutions ranked?

Australian institutions are not officially ranked. However, there are some commercial publications available that compare achievements of universities and institutions in meeting certain criteria such as use of technology or student support services. All of Australia's education and training institutions offer high quality, internationally relevant courses because Australian Government legislation requires them to be registered and meet quality assurance measures. Excellence in teaching, research, facilities and support services is found across Australia's diversified education and training system. Prospective students should focus on finding institutions that offer the course most suited to their particular needs and aspirations.

12. What is vocational education and training?

Australia's Vocational Education and Training (VET) system is often referred to as Technical and Vocational Education (TVE) in other countries. It delivers training that is both practical and career-oriented and includes courses in computing, business studies, marketing, tourism and hospitality. VET is also available in Australian schools.

13. Can international students attend schools in Australia?

Yes. All government and non-government schools accept international students and must meet special requirements under Australian Government legislation.

14. Are there any special support services for international students?

15. What can I do in my spare time?

Institutions offer access to a vast range of extra curricula activities, both on campus and within the community.

16. What is the weather like in Australia?

Australia is diverse in its geography and climate. Being in the southern hemisphere Australia's summer starts in December and winter in June. Nearly a third of Australia is in the tropics where the average temperatures are in the mid 20 degrees Celsius. The southern areas are in a temperate zone.

18. Can I extend my Studies in Australia ?

Yes, you can extend your studies in Australia as long as your visa allows it. If you get a student visa with a non-extension note, you will have to leave the country to apply again. You can check with our Universal Student Services.

19. Can I change my course or Institution if I don't like it?

No, only in very special situations and with consent from the Department of Immigration. Sometimes it is possible to change courses if they are in the same area for example: from Hospitality for Tourism to Commercial Cookery. But it will depend on the school's agreement and DIMA consent. To change Institutions, it is only possible if for example, it is for health reasons. But there are courses that have campuses in different cities. So, for a little extra you may be able to study the same course and subjects but in a different city. Universal Student Services Head office in Melbourne will; assist you .

20. Do I have to attend all classes even if I don't like the course ?

Yes, Your attendance is reported to Immigration every week and if you haven't attended at least 80% of your classes, Immigration may cancel your visa and ask you to leave the Country. If you fall sick, a Medical Certificate is required to justify your absence.

21. Is there any Scholarship or financial help available to study in Australia?

Yes and No, depending on the country you are from, and the type of course you plan to do. Normally not, and it is very hard to get. Check with the Embassy in your Country.

22. What do I have to do to go to an Australian University ?

To enter an Australian University, you must have a score of 6.0 to 6.5 in IELTS. Every Institution and Course requires a different level. For example, Law is 7.0. Also, you need to have an official translation and certified copies of your school transcript or academic records or official examination/qualification certificates, including the number of hours you studied these topics. If you don't have enough English you can study English and have a conditional letter to jump to the University course as soon as your English improves. Universal Student Services will assist you .

23. How do I pay the Compulsory Medical insurance?

By the time the school sends you the invoice, the Insurance cost will be added for you to pay together with the school's costs and fees.
